Aamjiwnaang Territory

Aamjiwnaang Territory originally included a tract of land  of about  3.5  million acres encompassing  lower Lake Huron and the St. Clair River. The Saulteux Chippewa expanded to the region from the St. Mary's River district in Lake Superior country circa 1700 to be closer to the newly founded French trading post Fort Ponchartrain (Detroit).  They eventually became know as the Aamjiwnaang First Nation.  David's books tell the story of the history of his people and their interactions with Europeans over a period of two hundred years as well as describing their culture as practiced during this time.
